Harold Hal Mann Jr.

September 16, 1952 - November 9, 2021

Harold (Hal, Cisco) Andrew Mann, Jr., 69, of Chicago, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2021 after a lengthy illness. Hal was the dearly beloved husband of Patricia Kunkel Mann who was totally devoted to him, especially throughout his illness the last several years. He deeply loved his son Andrew (Harold Andrew) Mann, III and daughter Emily Mann, and was very proud of both of them. He was the beloved son of the late Emily and Harold Mann and the late Eva and Gene Berlanga, his dear aunt and uncle with whom he lived for many years. He was known as Cisco to his family, a name he gave himself at age two in honor of a neighbor’s dog. He was greatly loved by his siblings and family members Yvonne (Ty) Kemp, Mary Mann (deceased), Mercedes Mann (Bill Piet), Virginia Mann (Gary Dupuis), Ava Mann Tossi and Ronald Olivares (deceased). He loved his many nieces, nephews and family members, including David Nealis, Andrew Mann, Brent Kemp and the late Desiree Kemp Hoed. He is survived by many loving cousins and dear friends. A Navy veteran, he enjoyed a career as a Sergeant with the Cook County Sheriff’s Department from which he recently retired and where he proudly served with the SWAP unit. He was a member of the Elks and American Legion Post 134. He was the longtime Commander of the former AMVETS Post 243, where for many years he helped organize the Memorial Day Services at Rosehill Cemetery. When he was younger, he volunteered at Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo. He loved to read, cook, attend Chicago Cubs games, tell corny jokes and entertain others. His family is grateful for the wonderful care he received from throughout the North Shore Hospital System the past four years, especially the doctors, nurses and staff at Evanston and Glenbrook Hospitals. Their knowledge, skill, kindness, compassion and understanding helped ease many difficult situations and extend his life so he could enjoy more good days with his family. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Barr Funeral Home, 6222 N. Broadway, Chicago, Ill with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Jerome Church, 1709 W. Lunt, Chicago, Ill. at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 15, followed by burial at St. Joseph Cemetery, River Grove, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Peace Officers Memorial Foundation of Cook County (www.POMFCC.net)
