Dr Alan Joseph Ward

May 2, 1936 - May 3, 2022

Dr. Alan Joseph Ward, PhD, ABPP, age 86, of Chicago, IL passed away on May 3, 2022 after a lifelong struggle with multiple cancer diagnoses. He leaves his beloved wife of 29 years, Louella Krueger Ward. Brother-in-Law to Carl Simonsen and Marshall Ogne, and his wife, Joyce. Fond uncle to Paul Ogne (Nancy), Mark Ogne (Healani), Mary Beth Roop (Mark), Matthew Simonsen (Amy) and Rebecca Choi (Paul). Great uncle to many. Cousins include Mike Moruzzi (Sandy), Richard Scott (Helene), Cookie Scott, David Scott (Judy), and Bradley Scott (Susie). Dr. Ward's primary focus throughout his professional career was on his patients. He loved his profession and his patients, so much so that he continued to virtually "see" patients until the day before his hospitalization. Alan aimed to make the world and his community a better place. He maintained a full-time psychology practice in Chicago for the last 30 years with offices in Hyde Park and the north side of Chicago. He earned The American Board of Professional Psychology Board Certification in Psychology (ABPP). Great enjoyments in his life included classical music, tennis and travel. He will be greatly missed by his wife, relatives and the patients to whom he dedicated his life. A memorial visitation will be held May 14, 2022 at Barr Funeral Home from 1-2pm with a 2pm memorial service. There will be a private gravesite service in Hyannis, MA on Cape Cod.
