Gabrielle Davoust

Gabrielle “Gaby” Lee Davoust, age 57, passed away on January 1, 2026, in Evanston, Illinois. Born on July 24, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois, Gaby brought warmth and creativity into the world from the very beginning. A proud graduate of Lane Tech High School, Gaby went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from Eastern Illinois University. Her passion for design and baking led her to pursue further education at Kendall College, where she studied Baking and Pastry—an endeavor that perfectly blended her artistic talents with her love for culinary creation. Professionally, Gaby worked as a graphic designer at various organizations throughout her career. She was especially proud of her time at Quicker Printers, where her keen eye for detail and imaginative spirit left a lasting impression. Gaby’s creativity extended far beyond the workplace. She was an extraordinary baker who never arrived anywhere empty-handed—her desserts were as memorable as they were delicious. Whether she was crafting pastries or designing beautiful works of art, Gaby poured love and creativity into everything she touched. Her hobbies reflected her vibrant personality: she found joy in baking and cooking, creating art, traveling to new places, gardening, singing, hiking and camping, decorating her home with flair, reading, and immersing herself in the worlds of Star Wars and Harry Potter. Above all else, Gaby was known for her generosity and fierce loyalty to those she loved. Her family and friends meant everything to her. She is lovingly remembered by her parents, Susan and Clark Davoust; sisters Michelle Davoust and Nicole Davoust; brother-in-law Cary Schoeppach; nephews and nieces Peter Hienz (wife Kate and children Elijah, Benjamin, and Leila), Andrew Hienz, Elizabeth Peterson, Vivian Schoeppach, and Wesley Schoeppach; her Uncle John Dockendorf; many cousins; and her beloved cat Butterscotch. Gaby’s presence brought light to every room she entered. Her legacy lives on through the memories shared by those fortunate enough to know her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gaby’s name to Felines & Canines (www.felinescanines.org) or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org). May Gabrielle’s memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. Please join us on February 7, 2026 for a gathering of family and friends to celebrate Gaby’s Life at Barr Funeral Home, 6222 N Broadway. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 pm.
