Marion Goodwin Faldet (nee MacKinnon) 85, died on Saturday, October 31 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Originally from New England, she lived in Chicago since 1966.
A graduate of the University of Chicago, she served on the administrative staffs of the Harvard University Graduate School of Education, the Superintendent of New York City Public Schools, and Science Research Associates in Chicago.
She was vice president of the Spencer Foundation, one of the largest US funders of educational research.
Mrs Faldet had an extensive history of service to non-profit and church-related organizations, including the boards of Episcopal Charities and Community Services, the Consortium of Endowed Episcopal Parishes, and Bishop Anderson House at Rush University Medical Center.
She volunteered at the Art Institute of Chicago and was president of the Friends of American Writers at the time of her death.
She was predeceased by two husbands, Burton W Faldet and Lester Goodwin. She is survived by her nephew Robin MacKinnon, wife Susanne, and son Ryan, of Georgia, as well as her niece and family, Judy, Donald, Emily and Elizabeth Durand, of Pennsylvania, and many, many friends.
A Requiem Eucharist will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, November 4, at St James Cathedral, Wabash and Huron Streets, Chicago. Interment will take place in the Cathedral Memorial Garden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Episcopal Charities and Community Services, 65 East Huron, Chicago, IL 60611-2728.
